Day 1

After introductions, we will begin our school with an overview video. Our main focus will be to measure for size, make all initial pattern changes for fit and complete our pattern check with tissue fitting. After lunch we will tour Fabric Depot and discuss notions and fabric types, weaves, and fiber content as it relates to sewing vintage styles. Our goal is to complete all the pattern work and get our shell fabric cut out. (That's RIGHT! NO muslin needed!) Need more time to be ready for the next day? For additional help, join me in the classroom each night between 5-8pm to work on your project outside of official class time.

Day 2

The morning will be spent pin fitting and finalizing our bodice and skirt shell in fabric and then begin sewing. After lunch we will take any time needed for additional pattern work to complete our custom vintage look. Become inspired from my samples, notebooks, and other resources. Our goal for day 2: complete the fitting process and finish sewing the shell. Use your sit and sew time to complete all but the finishing work. Need more time to be ready for the next day? Come to the classroom for a sit & sew session anytime between 5-8pm

Day 3

Finishing techniques will be demonstrated and discussed. These include, but are not limited to hems, zippers, and buttons/buttonholes. Our goal today is to complete our finishing steps so that you go home with a completed dress and many other pattern options that can be fit and assembled in exactly the same way. You will leave with many good friend, fond memories, a completed pattern that fits, and a knowledge of fit and dressmaking that you will carry with you and use throughout your life!
